Héctor Román Peña is a member of González Calvillo, S.C. since 2004. During more than 9 years he has successfully counseled a wide-spectrum of private national and foreign companies, as well as Mexican governmental entities.
Practice Focus
Mr. Román has mainly developed his professional practice in the following areas: real estate, corporate law, procurement, mergers & acquisitions, investments, energy, telecommunications and labor law. During his professional practice, Hector Roman has actively participated in a broad spectrum of cross-border transactions, bidding processes, and multi-million transactions related to industrial complexes in Ciudad Juarez, as well as related to the acquisition or sale of different kind of real estate properties throughout the Mexican Republic.
Representative Legal Matters
• Participated in the representation of Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo (FONATUR) in drafting of agreements for the sale of the golf course and a tennis stadium and practice facilities in Loreto, State of Baja California Sur.
• Be part of the Gonzalez Calvillo’s team advising Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and the Ministry of Energy in the drafting of regulations deriving from the reforms to 2008 Pemex Law and Mexican Oil Industry legal framework.
• Represented BI&DI Group in a multi-million sale of two adjacent tracts of land located in Cancun, Quintana Roo, acquired for the construction of a Shopping Center & Offices development.
• Represented two Mexican legal entities in a US$19.0 Million Dollars sale concerning the last two front-beach tracts of land in the main tourist Boulevard of Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo for the construction of two Mid-Luxury Condominium developments.
• Acted as external counsel of Corporación Industrial Juárez in an equity funding and financing transaction for a major maquiladora based real-estate acquisition. General Electric Real Estate Mexico financed approximately US$43 million.

Mr. Román obtained a J.D. degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 2002. Postgraduate studies in Corporate Law (2002 – ITAM) and Energy (2004 – Instituto Español de la Energía / Madrid, Spain). Practitioner at White & Case, S.C from 1999 to 2001, and in-house lawyer at TV Azteca, S.A. de C.V. from 2002 to 2003.
