Gonzalez Calvillo - Meet new stardards

Our practice

We are considered one of the preeminent firms with considerable experience and expertise in the energy sector in Mexico.

We represent a comprehensive spectrum of oil and gas clients across the complete value chain, including upstream, midstream, and downstream.

For the past 30 years our lawyers have developed critical knowledge and made key contacts and relationships by working with international oil companies, pipeline, storage and terminal companies, oilfield service providers and EPC contractors, petrochemicals and refining companies, trading companies and gasoline and other refined products marketers, banks and financial institutions, and other investors in the oil and gas industry.

Our experience includes participating in the leading and most complex M&A, joint ventures, project finance and development, including infrastructure, in the areas of pipelines, petrochemicals, natural gas distribution, transportation and storage, LNG facilities, power generation, IPPs, solar power, cogeneration, EPC and PPP matters. As well as public and private bids and regulatory, permitting, compliance, environmental and social impact matters across the industry.

Also, we are consistently involved in some of the largest and most challenging power projects in Mexico, including conventional and renewable power, representing sponsors, developers, EPC and O&M contractors, offtakers, development and private local and international banks, investment funds and other strategic investors.

Our team is routinely involved as counsel in the development of greenfield and brownfield renewable energy projects, as well as in M&A, project finance and regulatory matters.

The depth and breadth of our energy team’s expertise, coupled with the support of our specialized complementary practice areas, allows us to provide legal comprehensive solutions, covering practically all legal aspects of conventional and renewable projects, including permitting, real estate, EPC and O&M agreements, negotiation of power purchase agreements (PPAs), procurement, environmental and social impact matters, IP, compliance and other relevant aspects for the development, financing, acquisition and disposition of power projects and the sale and purchase of power and other associated products, such as clean energy certificates, under PPAs and in the Mexican wholesale power market.
